The play has
played to audiences around the world featuring Lillette Dubey
who has recently won acclaim for her performance in Monsoon
Wedding, Winner of an International award and many other films
like Zubeidaa .Written by Mahesh Dattani who is India's first
playwright in English to be awarded the Sahitya Academy for his
contribution in world drama. The play itself has won commendable
reviews internationally Dance Like a Man will run at the
Singapore Repertory Theatre on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of July
2002

Dance Like A Man is a play in English.
The play is a powerful human
drama providing an insight into the contemporary social scene in
India. The story of Jasraj and Ratna (two dancers past their
prime) is juxtaposed with that of their daughter Lata, to reveal
the darker secrets of family relationships and conflicts between
generations. The mode is comic, but the concerns are serious,
real and universal.
